Today was a write-off.
Yes, I managed to get some work done, and yes, the pic shows me at work.
But it was still a write-off.
A night and a day and a night of migraine coupled with a run of insomnia (if that's the collective noun for too much nocturnal wakefulness) left me a shadow.
A shell.
Knotted with stiff muscly lumps of tension.
And bruised around the orbits where I'd dug into acupressure points with my knuckles.
This morning's spa visit was well timed - the massage melted away my tension; I wrote out my spa review post.
And that was that for the day.
A sick day.
A write-off.

Seeing asleep.
Touching his soft hair.
Smelling the lingering chlorination from this afternoon's swim.
Hearing CBC radio 2, his preferred music for falling asleep to - the signal.
Toothpaste as I start towards my own bed and sleep.

Thinking: I can't wait for him to grow up, yet I could happily wait for an eternity.
