Amazed I got out for a run this afternoon. This week has been intense, with (sorry this is all rather cryptic but it's not really my story to tell) a wait list opening up for sooner rather than later leading to reduced hours for work filtered by catching up all weekend, masses of documents to prepare, emotional intensity off the scale, and snatched moments to recharge. I have huge gratitude to my wonderful manager at work for easing the load, to work colleagues who didn't know but we're still a big support, to the chap in the photocopy shop who made it all a lot easier, that amazing cafe, today's squirrel for cheering me on, and of course my son who is just pure awesomeness 💓 And now we wait.

TGIF celebrating Marble Slab-style. My (not so) Wee Guy and I have been celebrating Fridays since middle school and before that, we used to have regular Friday "date nights" together. I am very proud to say that now he's a master of seizing the moment and celebrating the small and large moments in life with style. #i2f

A final hammocking ... now packed away. #i2f This hammock was my safety net and refuge during stressful times. I'd head off there to unwind in the evening, knit a bit and shout at the fat pigeons. After a decent pause, my dad would come find me, bringing chocolates as an excuse, and chat about his day. He didn't open up that much usually but he did share some of himself on this visit. Happy memories.

Fun, informative, entertaining, inspiring and coincidental; excellent afternoon with SFU Science for talks by Dava Sobel and Joe Schwarcz on Science fiction and fact. Great #scicomm event. So why coincidental? Well, I read Sobel's book, Longitude while writing up my PhD thesis and it made me realise that writing Science could be fun. And right now, I'm writing up a blog post on meat glue, using an article by Schwarcz as one of my resources. Congrats to the two speakers on their honorary degrees - well deserved!

Forgot to post this one; at last! Finished this monumental pile of lace fluff. It's a knitted shawl, longer than I'm tall, using the thinnest lace weight merino yarn I've ever handled. A totally tedious but very simple repeat lace pattern that bored me stupid... but so worth it in the end. #knittersofinstagram
